Round Top: Fall 2024 (pt. 2)
Big Red Barn, Round Top
So, a week later I convinced my husband to come check out Round Top with me. You know, a perfect date day in my opinion—it beats sitting on the couch watching football all day!
I wanted to check out the Big Red Barn, another iconic landmark alongside Blue Hills. Some of the venues require tickets or wristbands, and the Big Red Barn was one of those spots. It's actually the first venue you pass when you turn onto State Highway 237 (TX-237), which is the main stretch cutting straight through Round Top and connecting all the major antique venues.
Then we headed off for a lunch break—Chandler’s favorite part! We went to Boon & Co. so that we could get a spot at Bar 17, the bar located on their second level. We had heard you need to arrive right when they open at 11:00 AM to secure a seat before the lunch rush hits; otherwise, good luck getting in!

It was moody, calming, eclectic, and such a vibe—perfect for a date, and I definitely want to go back for an evening cocktail. We chatted with sweet old ladies - who said they have been coming to Round Top as long as they could remember. They were pros! Pros at Round Top & pros at life. They gave us welcoming marriage advice, business advice, friend advice and so on.
I find myself wanting to ask the older generation about life lessons or some sort of wisdom they can share with me. After all, they have lived much longer and have years of life lessons under their belts. - It was lovely. It is the unexpected encounters that always mean the most to me.
After drinks, we went downstairs for lunch at Boon & Co. It's a great spot with pizzas, sandwiches, and salads—though my absolute favorite part is browsing their selection of local cheeses and meats!

Now - back to shopping.
We headed to Marburger Farms. Probably the most established, high end venue down State Highway 237. You need a wristband for this venue too - but it’s worth it. Even tough you may not buy anything here - it is a place of inspiration. Most of the vendors have large furniture pieces or art - which one day, I hope I can fill my house with some of these treasures. But that day, was not today.

Lastly, let’s talk about outfits. It’s a THING here- you have to dress up. It’s truly a Texas fashion show- wear the boots, the skirt, the big hat, turquoise jewelry. ALL OF IT.
